The first ever annual Fotokasty review will take place during Photomonth in Krakow from the 20th to 22nd of May 2009.
Alongside these organizations, there will be works created by Polish authors, represented by Visavis.pl, Newsweek Poland, Agencja Gazeta, ProFotografia and Sputnik Photos, all of which will be displaying works during the open-air presentations.
The programme for this three-day event includes workshops in fotokasty editing (also an introduction to camera work and radio documentaries) and a conference with media experts, journalists, photo editors and photographers working in the multimedia industry.
Fotokast. What is it?
Fotokast is a multimedia photo story with a sound track or video. Technological revolution of the last few years has led to a growing popularity of this medium. Thanks to new ways of integrating technology, it is possible to combine photographs, video, text and sound to create stories. The resulting short multimedia materials may be viewed on the Internet, in cinemas or sent by mobile phone.
Is there a future for fotokasty? How and to what extent can their development be stimulated? How do they inspire the search for and the use of cutting edge technologies by photographers? Are they another stage in the development of media or a dead end? How are the communication methods and participation in culture changing in the society ?
A Review of Fotokasty is a wide-ranging presentation of a new genre with a commentary by Edwin Bendyk, Julien Chapsal, Marek Drabik, Marek Kowalczyk, Przemek Krzakiewicz, Grzegorz Mogilewski, Jacek Pomykalski. It is aimed at displaying the diversity and development rate of Fotokasty on the Polish and international media markets.
